JAMMU, Oct 20: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) and Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) urged the Government to implement the High Court’s judgment against reservation in promotion.
DBPS held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Ved Parkash Sharma, in which the recent judgment issued by the Division Bench of J&K High Court was discussed at length.
While disposing off the petitions regarding reservation in promotion, High Court said that “There should be no benefit of reservation in promotions in J&K and struck down section 6 of J&K Reservation Act 2004 and Rules, 9,10 & 34 of J&K Reservation Rules 2005”, the members of the Sabha said, adding that DBPS has been persistently demanding the withdrawal of such reservation in promotions which empowers the Government to promote the reserved category Government employees 2-3 steps ahead of the general category employee irrespective of seniority, experience, merit thereby demoralizing the senior most general category employees.
They also denounced the misconception role of certain vested social and political personalities to create a baseless conception among masses that reservation is being withdrawn as a whole which is a false propaganda.
The Sabha urged the Government to implement the recent judgment of High Court in letter and spirit by stopping future promotion besides demotion of the employees of reserved category who have taken undue benefits under existing reservation rules.
Among others present in the meeting were Satya Nand Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Jagan Nath, Virendar Mangotra, Sat Pal Sharma, Madan Lal, Sandeep, Kishore Kumar Sharma, Kuldeep Sharma, Surinder Kumar, etc.
Meanwhile, Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) also held a meeting under the chairmanship of its President Vinod Kumar Gupta. The Sabha expressed its satisfaction over the fact that a big constitutional anomaly, which had, over the years, deprived the general category incumbents of their constitutional right of equal opportunity in advancement of their careers, had been set right by the High Court. The JCMS felt that this judgment would go a long way in uplifting the moral of the general category incumbents, who over the years had to suffer the mental agony of seeing their juniors being illegally marched ahead of them under the garb of the reservation in promotion, which not only adversely affected their careers and financial position but also introduced a sense of frustration and helplessness.
The JCMS also appealed to the Government to implement this judgment in its true letter and spirit at the earliest and not to succumb to any political blackmail so that the general category incumbents are no more deprived of their constitutional rights.
The meeting was also attended by Chander Mohan Gupta, General Secretary, Om Prakash Gupta, Vice president, Er Ved Prakash Gupta, senior member, Amar Chand, Patron, Ram Charan Gupta, Ajay Gupta, Rattan Hindu, Shiv Pratap, Krishen Kumar Gupta, Raghvir Gupta, Bushan Pargal and Satish Gupta, all senior members.
