JAMMU, Oct 20: Three days District Jammu Handball Championship in men and women section began at Playfield Shastri Nagar, here today.
The Championship is being organized by District Jammu Handball Association, under aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association, under the patronage of Dr SM Bali, president J&K Handball Association.
Ashwani Kumar Raina, general secretary J&K Handball Association is the chairman of the event, while the Championship is being held under the supervision of J&K State Sports Council alongwith Rajinder Kumar, joint secretary of the Association and Sanjeev Jamwal, executive member.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest on the opening ceremony.
About 250 players drawn from 8 different Handball Clubs of the district Jammu are participating in the Championship.
The matches were officiated by Harmeek Singh and Ashish Sharma.
The first match in men’s section was played between R.L Pissu Club and Rehari Club in which R.L Pissu Club defeated Rehari club by 14-10 goals, while in the women’s section, Sandeep Pal Club defeated R.L Pissu club by 14-08 goals.
