JAMMU, Oct 20: A 16-year-old girl was raped by her relative in Jhajjar Kotli. However, acting swiftly, police arrested the accused.
As per police sources, Kapoor Raj, son of Thodu Ram of Phalain Mandaal Satwari had gone to his relatives house at Jhajjar Kotli.
Finding his 16-year-old relative girl alone in the house, the man raped her and escaped from the spot after threatening the girl of dire consequences, if she revealed the episode to anyone.
The family members of the girl were outside and struck in heavy rain on Monday. When they returned home, the girl narrated the ordeal to them and they reported the matter to Jhajjar Kotli police station.
Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR Number 124/15 under Section 376 RPC was registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and investigation started.
The girl was restored to family members after conducting medical examination and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
Police received the information from reliable sources that the accused is going Jammu in a bus and accordingly a naka was raised by the police during which he was arrested.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajeev Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
