NEW DELHI, Oct 21: In yet another path-breaking reform by the Narendra Modi Government, a new Mobile App for public grievances was launched here today by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh. The portal named CPGRAMS (Centralized Public Grievances Redress and Monitoring System) will offer an easily accessible means to redress citizens’ grievances through mobile phone.
A QR code has been provided on the PG portal which can be scanned on to the smartphone after which a grievance can be sent directly onto CPRGRAMS. Alternatively, to download the Mobile App, one can log on to http://pgportal.gov.in. Soon after a grievance or complaint is lodged through mobile phone, an automatic acknowledgement message will be received on the same number through an SMS. Later on, the status of follow – up and processing of the complaint will also be available from time to time on the same mobile phone.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the present government is committed to provide citizen-centric governance and today’s launch is one step forward in that direction.
Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that as a result of new hi-tech methods brought into use, more than 6.4 lakh grievances and complaints have been disposed off during the last one year and the pending complaints are mostly those where there is either some contradiction or conflict in terms of the observance of rules and regulations.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Jitendra Singh reiterated that the twin Departments of Personnel (DoPT) and Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Pensions (ARPG&P) are committed to make governance easy and trouble-free. In this regard, he also referred to the revolutionary decision to do away with the practice of attestation of certificates taken soon after the present government took over and the most recent decision to discontinue the practice of conducting interviews for recruitment to such government jobs where it is not required.
Union Secretary Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Pensions, Devendra Chaudhry, Union Secretary DoPT, Sanjay Kothari, and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
