SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The first All India J&K Bank Gold Cup Football Tournament will start in the first week of October at Srinagar this year.
India’s top teams including I-league teams like Air India, Mumbai FC, United Sikkim, Royal Wangdoh, Titanium FC and Punjab Police would be competing in this maiden tournament which is expected to emerge as one of the top national level tournaments. Notably, top 12 teams of J&K State would be participating in the tournament.
“The tournament was scheduled to be held in August, 2012, however, due to All India Postal Football Tournament which is underway and School National Football tournament being played in the first week of September, the tournament was rescheduled,” said Mohammad Amin Khan, Secretary J&K Bank Sports Board. He added that the players of various local super division teams would be busy as they have to join J&K-XI which is playing an exhibition match against Mohan Bagan on September 8 and 11.
