JAMMU, Nov 16: Deshmesh Hockey Club Nanak Nagar thrashed Ajit Club Gole Gujral by six goals to nil (6-0) to move into the next round of the ongoing Shaheed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Tournament, at K K Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here.
As many as 9 teams from Jammu Division are participating in the 9-day lon league-cum-knock-out tournament. Final of the tournament will be played on November 21, 2015.
The tournament is being organized by Kashmir Sikh Sangat, Jammu under the auspices of Hockey J&K, under the supervision of Sewa Singh, president Sangat, Karamjeet Singh, general secretary Sangat, TP Singh, organizing secretary and GS Bakshi, Tournament Director.
Earlier, Deshmesh Club defeated Ajit Club by (6-0). Gagandeep Singh scored the first goal in 2nd minute of the match, which was followed by back to back goals by Jaswinder Singh in 13th and 18th minutes. Tajinder Singh netted the 4th and 6th goals in 28th and 50th minutes, while the 5th goals was scored by TP Singh in 37th minute.
Tejinder Singh was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof Inder Singh was the guest of honour.
In another match, Khalsa Club held Young Star Simbal Camp to (2-2) draw. Surinder Singh scored both the goals for Khalsa Club, while Amitpal Singh and Ranjeet Singh netted the goals for Young Star.
Satinder Singh Bali, former Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Tajinder Singh, Charanjit Singh, Manjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Abishek Kumar, Jagjit Singh, Joginder Singh and Jaspreet Singh.
