NAGROTA, Nov 16: Provincial President National Conference and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana today called for a massive initiative in ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas while emphasising the importance of public health.
Laying foundation stone of Sulabh Swachaliya at Nagrota, the nerve centre of adjoining eleven Panchayats, this afternoon, Mr Rana said the toilet facilities are needed to be created at every public place.
Appreciating this imperative, he said yet another initiative has been taken in Nagrota where the toilet block, costing Rs 12 lakh will be constructed on modern lines out of his Constituency Development Fund. He announced a similar facility for Dhansal, the tehsil headquarters, and said his endeavour will be on upgrading civic facilities alongside pursuing the development effort single-mindedly.
Mr Rana said the vision of Nagrota being transformed into Nava Jammu will not be realised without the active cooperation of the people. In this context, he expressed his gratitude to the residents of the constituency for standing by him through thick and thin and in every effort by providing necessary suggestions and feedback from time to time.
He enumerated various unique and out of box developmental initiatives taken in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency during the past eight months and said these are now showing results on ground.
“Making Nagrota a model constituency is a dream for us all”, he told the people and pledged that being their representative they will not find him wanting. He said his endeavour would be to get the developmental machinery moving so that targets fixed are achieved in a time bound manner.
Mr Rana asked the executing agency to maintain the standard of the work on public convenience facility and ensure its speedy completion.
He was accompanied by MLA Kamal Arora, Provincial NC Secretary Sheikh Bashir and District President Jammu Urban Dharamveer Singh Jamwal.
