JAMMU, Nov 18: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri has appealed the Prime Minister to allocate sufficient funds for regularization of nearly sixty one thousand daily rated workers presently attached with various departments of the State Government for the past twenty years, while formulating State annual plan for the year 2016-17 so that the State Government is able to create and absorb them against the proposed and newly created posts in one go.
“The issue though very urgent is gathering dust with tremendous disadvantage to this working segment who run vital installations and public utilities”, Shastri said while addressing NMC workers in a meeting here.
Pleading the cause of daily rated workers, Shastri further said that the recently announced and much hyped package for State from Central Government has totally ignored daily rated workers despite promises by top leaderships of BJP during electioneering.
Shastri also urged NITI Ayog chairman Panigrahi to direct State Government to forwarded proposals in the first instance for regular absorption of these workers. Till such time alternative facilities of timely disbursement of their wages regularly, healthcare compensation occupational hazard allowance and tuition claims etc be provided to mitigate their sufferings.
Shastri also demanded early release of 6% DA, due from July last, beside release of all pending dues of daily related workers working in PHE, PDD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PWD, Agriculture and other departments.
Among others who also spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, B S Jamwal, Sunil Kocchar, Surinder Kumar, Swarn Bhagat, Vijay Bhagat, Daleep Bhagat, Girdhari Lal, Com Barkat Ram, Sukhdev Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Mohan Lal.
