10th Edition of Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket 2015 inaugurated

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: The inaugural match of the 10th Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup 2015 was played between Amar Singh College Srinagar and Govt Degree College Pulwama, here today.
GDC Pulwama won the toss and elected to field first. Amar Singh College scored 165 runs in the allotted 25 overs. Gowher contributed 49 runs in 42 deliveries and Owais scored 45 runs in 30 balls. For Govt. Degree College Pulwama, Furqaan took 4 wickets, while Raqib took 3 wickets.
Chasing a target of 166 runs, Govt. Degree College Pulwama lost all the wickets and could score 108 runs only in 19.2 overs. Adnan scored 42 runs and Furqaan scored 19, while for Amar Singh College, Ishfaq bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets, while Owais bagged 3 wickets.
Amar Singh College won the match by 57 runs. Gowher was adjudged as the man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance.
Earlier the tournament was declared open by the college Principal, Prof (Dr) G M Tibet Baqal, who was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony.
While welcoming the different teams to the Islamia College he assured them all kind of support for providing them best facilities in the College in future as well.
It is pertinent to mention that Islamia College is the only College which has the facility of cricket turf and is organizing Inter-College Tournament on turf wicket for the last two years.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Govt Degree College Pattan will lock horns with Govt Degree College Uttersoo.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Physical Education of College in the memory of Late Prof Mohammad Yousuf, Ex-Principal of the College.
