District Udhampur emerges overall champion in Women RGKA competition

JAMMU, Nov 20: District Udhampur emerged overall champion in the State Level Under-25 Women competition under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA), organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in the disciplines of Hockey and Athletics, which concluded here at KK Hakhu Stadium and SOS Gole Gujral.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma and Principal SOS Gole Gujral were present on concluding day.
The tournament was organized by the Department as a part of annual calendar of sports activities under the patronage of Jahangir Mir, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K State and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Jt. Director and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
Udhampur emerged champion by securing 29 points, while Ganderbal secured 22 points to claim second place, followed by Jammu with 15 points at 3rd spot.
In Hockey final, Poonch beat Jammu by four goals to nil (4-0). Manu and Sita scored 2 goals each for Poonch.
The match were officiated by Harvinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Satinder Pal.
The gold medal winners in various events of Athletics included Guddi Sharma of Jammu, Rajni Sharma of Samba and Sakina of Anantnag, while Kathua and Ganderbal districts won gold medals in 3000 mtrs and 4X400 mtrs respectively.
Meanwhile, Inter District State Level competition in the sports discipline of Hockey Girls Under-14 yrs. gets underway here today.
In the inaugural match, Baramulla defeated Jammu by A solitary goal (1-0) and the goal was scored by Simranjeet Kour.
