SRINAGAR, Nov 21: People’s Republican Party (PRP) today demanded that the proposed AIIMS of Kashmir Valley be established at Centrally located place instead of Awantipora which will be suitable to the people of Tangdhar, Gurez, Karnah, Uri and Bandipora also.
In a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of PRP chief Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani it said that Awantipora in Pulwama district can’t be a centrally located place for the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora. Instead of Awantipora the AIIMS be established somewhere in Srinagar district which will be feasible for the people of entire Valley.
He said the medical institute should not be established on political considerations but a holistic view should be taken in this regard.
The meeting demanded that HMT Zainakoot and other areas around the Capital City are the idle places for the same and the Government should work out these possibilities also so that the AIIMS is established at Centrally located place.
The meeting was attended by Ghulam Ahmed War, Ghulam Din Gulshan and Advocate G M Tramboo from Baramulla, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din from Charar-e-Sharief, G M Rather from Chadoora and Ghulam Ahmed Bhat from Budgam.
