SRINAGAR: Very poor visibility due to dense fog disrupted air, rail and road transport in the Kashmir valley, where people chose to remain indoor because of severe cold and icy cold winds.
An official of Srinagar International Airport told that the visibility at the airport is very low today.
He said a GoAir flight from New Delhi could not land at the airport due to poor visibility.
The official said the second flight is scheduled to land at the airport at 1000 hrs. However, the flight will land only if the weather improves by than.
A Railway official said, ”despite poor visibility trains left from Srinagar and Badgam Railway stations as per schedule, however, the speed of the trains was very low and they will get delayed.
There was hardly any vehicles on the roads in Srinagar, particularly in the Civil Lines, Dal Lake and uptown areas because of severe cold and dense fog.
However, vehicles had to ply very slowly with their headlights on due to very poor visibility at the time of filing this report.
Interestingly there was no fog on the outskirts of uptown. Weather office has predicted dry weather in the Valley during the next 24 hours. (UNI)
