JAMMU, Nov 23: Minister for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli today held a public darbar at BJP headquarters here to interact with the general public and the party activists, wherein he was briefed about the problems related to the traffic as a result of which the people are made to suffer.
They also pin pointed some areas of Jammu city, where the traffic jams have become a headache for the people and sought Minister’s intervention in deployment of adequate staff of traffic police.
The issue of proper cleanliness in the buses plying on different routes was also discussed and it was stressed upon that the transport buses/minibuses be instructed to put notices in the buses for educating the commuters for not throwing the wastage on the roads while travelling.
The citizens and BJP party activists expressed the need for deploying transport service in the city as well as in other areas of Jammu province, where there is either no transport facility or a limited number of vehicles deployed. It was also pointed out by the public that three wheelers charge the fare on their wish without operating the meters.
Abdul Gani Kohli, on hearing the grievances of the people, said that the transport department is working on a number of effective measures to ensure smooth flow of traffic and the people shall feel respite from the frequent traffic jams.
The Minister assured that the department shall take care of the issues raised and also informed that the Transport Department is working on introducing vehicles in Jammu city as well as in Jammu province on the routes which are not yet been covered, for the comfort of daily commuters besides taking stern action against the erring drivers.
