JAMMU, Nov 25: Trikuta Nagar police nabbed inter-state narcotic smuggler along with ganja here today.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Trikuta Nagar police station laid a naka and signaled a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AJ-9047 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the rider accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but police chased and nabbed him near some distance from the naka point.
While checking of the vehicle, police recovered 2.9 kilograms of ganja and arrested the rider, who has been identified as Vikas Kumar, son of Suresh Kumar, a resident of Patna, at present Gangyal.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he brings ganja from different States to sell it among the people in Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 285/15 under Section 8/21 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Trikuta Nagar and investigations started.
Police team led by SHO Trikuta Nagar police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
