District Administration organizes dangal

JAMMU, Nov 26: District Administration Jammu organized Indian Style Wrestling in its rural form of traditional and historic dangal at Mud Akhara at Jhirri as a part of Jhirri Mela, here.   The event was held under the overall control and supervision of Simrandeep Singh, District Development Commissioner Jammu who is also the Chairman of the Mela and Hitesh Gupta SDM Marh (Mela Officer).
In all , 45 bouts were played in between the wrestlers belonging from the State of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir which were witnessed by the huge rush of devotees and wrestling lovers hailing from different parts of a country
Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control was the chief guest on the occasion, while  the group of Ministers and MLAs including Sunil Kumar Minister PWD (R&B), Gagan Bhagat, RS Pathania MLA RamNagar, Neelam Langeh MLA Ramban, Rajesh Gupta MLA Jammu East were the guests of honour. Main bout was won by Mohd Ishaq of Akhara Bajrangi Jammu who overpowered wrestler Zakkir of Samba.Second bout was won by Wrestler Aamir of Akhara Bajrangi who defeated wrestler Murad Ali of Domana Akhara. The third main bout was won by Wrestler Babba of Domana Akhara who defeated wrestler Bobri of District Samba. Winners and runner ups were awarded with cash prizes and gift items by the Management of the dangal in presence Ashok Mahajan, Sarpanch of the area.
Mulakh Raj Sharma was the Technical Director of the event, while Bansi Lal Tidyal, Allah Mai, Prem Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma were the technical officials.
