JAMMU, Dec 1: A special lecture was organized at The Law School in collaboration with CASH University of Jammu.
Dr Sarada Sreedevi Amma, eminent activist for women’s rights and Co-Director Women Centre San Francisco, USA was the resource person on the occasion, who in her lecture highlighted the role of youth especially the budding lawyers in addressing the perennial issue of AIDS and gender justice.
She further pressed upon the contemporary need to have legal counselling units in institutes of higher learning. She also suggested innovations to be introduced in the educational systems in the form of choice based credits to be given on account of the social and community based projects done by the students.
Prof Arti Bakshi, chairperson CASH and HoD Psychology, introduced the resource person with the students and presented her academic and research profile.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Director, The Law School presented the welcome address wherein he welcomed the speaker and expressed his gratitude to her for having readily agreed to an interaction with the students of the Law school.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, Sr Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Gandhi Peace Foundation, Jammu Chapter presented the vote of thanks.
