Gupta declares open Chuni Lal Khajuria Cricket Tournament

UDHAMPUR Dec 7: State vice president National Conference,Rattan Lal Gupta today said that sports is imperative for the overall growth of youngsters and added that it imbibes the spirit of camaraderie which helps further cementing the bonds of amity and brotherhood.
Declaring Chuni Lal Khajuria Cricket Tournament open at Udhampur this morning, Mr Gupta hoped that the budding and talented players will not only play the gentleman’s game in true spirit of the   term but will also  make sportsmanship as their way of life.
The tournament is being played in memory of the veteran late leader of National Conference Mr Chuni Lal Khajuria, who also remained Deputy Chairman Legislative Council. Prominent teams are participating in the event.
Prominent among those present during the inaugural match included former legislator Brij Mohan Sharma.
Mr Gupta hailed the organizers for holding the Tournament, saying such events are useful for channelizing the energies of youth towards right direction. He hoped that the players will demonstrate best of their talent and inspire youngsters to take up the game seriously. He said sports provide unique opportunity to the talented ones to make their mark on the bigger canvass and eventually shape their career in chosen games.
The State vice president also paid tributes to Mr Chuni Lal Khajuria and said he worked relentlessly for upliftment of the people especially those belonging to weaker segments of society. He said Mr Khajuria will always be remembered for his sobriety and political acumen, which will continue to inspire the generations.
Brij Mohan Sharma also spoke on the occasion, while the organizer of the Tournament,Vijay Khajuria gave a detailed account of the teams participating in the event.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Prakshit Khajuria, Rajesh Gupta, Naresh Anthal, Ram Purshotam Sharma, Jagdish Bhardwaj, V B Sharma, Ravi Malhotra, Kuldeep Khajuria and Asif Chandel.
