JU Employees Cricket team calls on Vice Chancellor; presents runners-up Trophy

JAMMU, Dec 7: Jammu University Employees Cricket team called on Prof R D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu here this evening after their return from Gorakhpur and presented him the runners-up trophy.
Prof. Sharma praised the cricketers for their performance in the tournament and hoped that they would be able to carry forward the momentum in the future also and asked the players to keep the sportsmanship spirit alive in them that will keep on motivating them to look forward for success.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sharma said that winning and losing are just parameters to inculcate sportsmanship in players, adding that it is the participation and how well you put in your efforts, which matters the most.
It is pertinent to mention here that the University Employees Cricket Team participated in the All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Cup Tournament 2015 at Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur Univ-ersity (U.P) from November 15 to November 30, 2015 and in the final match played between Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi and University of Jammu, University of Jammu lost by 2 wickets.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor also distributed certificates of participation among the players.
The team included Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Captain, Ameet Targotra, Vice-Captain, Noor-ul-Asrar-Beg, Sumit Sharma, Shammi Bhagat, Vishal Sudan, Akash Bhola, Rajkumar Bakshi, Niranjan Singh, Pawan Singh, Rajesh Verma, Sandeep Bakshi, Balwant Singh and Surinder Singh Bhalla, besides Sunil Sahi, Manager, Manoj Chauhan, Assistant Manager and Lucky, Kitman.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, Sanjeev Mahajan, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Sports and Physical Education, J K Sharma, Director, CDC and Dr Jitender Khajuria, Joint Registrar.
