JAMMU, Dec 16: Students of KC Public School received their IAYP Bronze Awards in a ceremonial function held in the multi-purpose hall of KC Sports Club, here today.
The International Award for Young People (IAYP) is a global programme which young people pursue allover the World to earn a bronze, silver or gold for completing certain levels of self-motivated achievement in four areas of endeavour namely Adventure, Physical, Recreation and Acquisition of Skill and Social Service.
The Programme also goes by the name of Duke of Edinburg Award Scheme in England and some other countries. The aspirants for the award are in the range of 14 to 25 years.
In  the period of one year, thse 25 students of KC Public School undertook treks in Himachal Pradesh for their adventure requirement and rendered more than 15 hours of Service at a Home for people with special neds by visiting the inmates from time to time and interacted with them to build up their self-esteem and to engage them in meaningful activities.
They chose various fitness and health activities and attained a degree of skill in them over a period of 6 months to fulfill their Physical Recreation requirement. They also learnt various hands-on skills like cooking, repairing gadgets and so on.
Deputy Commissioner of JAMMU, Simrandeep Singh, presided over the function as a chief guest and gave away certificates and badges to the successful recipients of Bronze Award.
The function concluded with vote of thanks presented by Principal of the School, AK Mishra.
