Parties must clear stand on refugees issues: Manjit

SAMBA, Sept 4: Former Minister and Congress leader Manjit Singh urged all the political parties to clear their stand regarding the refugees and other displaced persons who have been deprived of their rights in the State.
Addressing a large gathering of refugees at Bain Glad border village in district Samba today, Manjit Singh alleged that several political parties have been playing politics over the issues of refugees and they should come clear in their stand concerning the refugees, who have been neglected since long and denied rights. He strongly demanded citizenship rights for these refugees who are living here for the last several decades.
Mr Singh said refugees of 1965, 71 and West Pak refugees have not received the ownership rights on the land allotted to them. He demanded that all these DPs including those from PoK be given their rights including right to vote.
Meanwhile, the former Minister welcomed the efforts of PCC delegation led by Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz  and other party Ministers for taking up the issue of refugees again with the Prime Minister and Home Minister besides UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi for comprehensive settlement of pending issues of the refugees. He hoped that Union Government would display sincerely in resolving pending issues of the refugees.
