NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Police will have no representation at the prestigious annual conference of country’s top police brass which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow in Kutch district of Gujarat.
It is learnt that permission for State Police Chief K Rajendra and Inspector General (CID) A G Mir to leave for the conference was not given by Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, who is in-charge of the Home Department.
This is for the first time that the sensitive border state, which has been facing Pakistan-sponsored militancy since early 1990’s, will not be having any representation to the annual conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police being organised by the Intelligence Bureau.
During the three-day conference, the top police brass will be staying in make-shift tents erected in the district that shares the international border with Pakistan. (AGENCIES)
