JAMMU, Dec 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) team and Pathankot XI defeated their rivals convincingly to advance in the ongoing 3rd Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organized by Santpura Danna Charitable Trust, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
In the first match, JKP defeated MBS Hockey Club, Simbal Camp by six goals to one (6-1). For JKP, Surinder Singh the first goal in 7th minute, which was followed by back to back goals by SP Singh in 16th and 35th minutes. Then, Sumit Pal, Jaspreet Singh and Manjeet Singh pelted goals in 44th, 46th and 56th minutes respectively.
Gagandeep Singh was the lone goal scorer for MBS Hockey Club in 47th minute.
S Avtar Singh was the chief guest and Er Beant Singh was the guest of honour in the first match.
In another match played today, Pathankot XI blanked BSF Kashmir by (3-0). Bujjuman, Amrit and Labhjeet scored goals in 4th , 40th and 45th minutes respectively for Pathankot XI.
S Joginder Singh, DGM Peaks Auto was the chief guest on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Charanjeet Singh (Tournament Director), Manjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Jagjit Singh, Joginder Singh, Daljeet Singh Bhatia, Amarjeet Singh and Kulwant Singh.
In tomorrow’s fixture, New Gurdaspur Hockey Club will take on 20-Punjab at 1:30 pm, while GNNHC Nanak Nagar wil take on Power House Hockey Club Poonch at 3 pm.
