JAMMU, Dec 20: A core body meeting of All India Jat Mahasabha, J&K, was convened today in Gangyal area of city outskirts under the chairmanship of Ch Manmohan Singh, State president, All India Jat Mahasabha, J&K, to discuss their demands.
Many community leaders including tehsil presidents became part of the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, Choudhary appealed to the community to unite their efforts and unionize themselves as a strong body against the perils of the issues they are facing. He said that instead of expecting help from others, our community must be self reliant and dependent on our own people for support when it’s required.
Choudhary pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared border packages but there was no clear mention of the particulars of the sanction. He said that border communities expect a sum of Rs 25 lacs and will accept nothing less than it, along with plots at a safe area, which is exactly what they deserve to have after the loss they have suffered from decades. “They want all this as a part of their one time settlement demand. Community expects total transparency in the details of the package sanction”, he asserted.
He demanded the Government to make education and jobs easily accessible for the community children and youth, as living on border makes it difficult for them to continue their life at a normal pace. “Their social well being should be considered by the Government and adequate quota in Government jobs be given to them. These demands are just and viable for the border area residents, regardless of whichever community they are”, Choudhary added.
