Govt urged to ensure supply of ration in far-flung areas

KISHTWAR, Dec 22: A meeting of Congress activists of the district was held here today in which various problems of the people were discussed. The meeting, which was chaired by senior Party leader Shamsher Singh Bhandari demanded that the food grains be stocked in far-flung areas of the districts of Kishtwar and Doda as the area remains totally cut off during the Winter season and people are facing lot of hardships due to shortage of food grains.
The meeting made an appeal to the Director CAPD in this regard and urged him to ensure supply of food grains in far-flung areas.
The meeting also reiterated the demand for four lanning of Batote-Kishtwar Highway which is in bad condition and prone to accidents. It also expressed concern over silence maintained by government over the restoration of work of Rattle Power Project and starting of work on other new power projects. It demanded that the work on the power projects in the Chenab region be started so that the power crisis are solved and State not only becomes self sufficient in power generation but also exports power to other states. This will boost the economy of Chenab Valley by creating ample employment opportunities for youth, the meeting added.
During the meeting an appeal was made to PCC chief G A Mir to constitute the district body so that under a proper head of the district the Congress Party can highlight people issues from time to time.
