DPS Jammu organises solo singing competition ‘Saptak’

JAMMU, Dec 23: Delhi Public School, Jammu organised ‘Saptak’, an inter house solo singing competition in which students of senior wing took part. The sole motive of this competition was to promote classical and traditional singing among the youngsters. The students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm
Participants from different houses presented different genre of Indian music like ghazals, sufi, devotional and raaga based compositions in an impressive and entertaining manner.
Master Akshit Gupta and Malvika Mohan of Ganga House clinched the Ist position competition while Akshima and Guneet Kour of chenab house and Rishika Bhardwaj with Vaibhav Wali secured second and third places respectively.
Appreciating the efforts and singing of young singers, Jatinder Kour, noted and veteran singer of the State who also judged the competition said that music is not only an art but a worship, which is to be performed religiously.
Speaking on the occasion Principal, Ruchi Chabra not only appreciated the young talent but also enlightened them about the role of music in our lives.
The competition was organised by Jhelum House.
