NC protests against NFSA, Rajouri killing

Srinagar, Dec 23: The National Conference youth wing workers today protested against the government’s decision to implement National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State and killing of its worker in Rajouri by a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member.
The opposition party protestors led by the NC’s youth president Salman Sagar started a march from Nawa-e-Subh Complex – the NC headquarters – here this morning. Holding banners and placards inscribed with anti-government slogans, the protesters attempted to march from Nawa-e-Subh complex towards commercial hub Lal Chowk.
However, a police party intercepted them near Kothibagh Police Station along Residency Road and detained several leaders including Salman Sagar, provincial president Mudasir Shahmiri and vice president of the youth wing Imran Nabi, the witnesses said. The protesters also burned an effigy of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as a mark of resentment and protest.
Earlier, Salman Sagar accused PDP-BJP government of failure on every front.
The NC youth leader also demanded a judicial probe into the death of party’s worker in Rajouri recently and slammed government for erratic power supply across Kashmir Valley.
