10 injured in Valley mishaps

SRINAGAR, Dec 27:  Police today said 10 persons were injured in two separate road mishaps in Kashmir valley.
A police official said eight persons were injured when a Scorpio vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near 3rd curve of Khoni nallah on Chowkibal-Tangdhar road in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The vehicle was on its way to Kupwara from
Tangdhar when the accident took place and the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve near Khooni nallah,  around 11000 feet above the sea level. Soon after the mishap, an avalanche rescue and mountaineering team of Chowkibal Army unit rushed to the spot, and started a rescue operation. All the injured were initially rushed to SDH Kralopora and later some of them were shifted to District Hospital Kupwara and SMHS Srinagar.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Arif Mugal, Ashiya, Ishrat Begum, Mohd Rafiq Malik, Tariq Ahmad Watlu, Muhstaq Ahmad, Muhammad Younis Abbasi and Farooq Ahmad Mughal while the SSP Kupwara, Aijaz Ahmad said all of them are stable.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said an unknown Maruti car hit a Motorcycle at Marazigund Dangiwacha area of Baramulla district, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist namely Raja Altaf and pillion Auqib Shafi Zargar. “Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard,” the spokesman added.
