DG Sports flags off 284-member State contingent

JAMMU, Dec 31: Director General Youth Services and Sports, Jahangir Mir flagged off a huge State contingent of 284 members, including 152 players and 32 officials, here today.
The State contingent comprised of the teams in the disciplines of Judo, Sqay Martial Art, Yoga, Basketball, Handball, Wrestling, Table Tennis and Boxing.
These teams will represent the State in 61st National School Games to be held at Delhi from January 2 to January 9, 2016.
Speaking on the occasion, Jahangir Mir said that around 1000 players participated in the National School Games this year in the recognized sports disciplines to vie for the top honours.
Mr Mir advised the players to give their best to keep the State’s flag high at the National scene.
“In this season, J&K has won gold medal in Cricket Under-17 girls, gold and bronze in Speedball,  bronze in Football Under-14 boys, bronze in Roller Skating and overall Champi-onship in Kabaddi,” informed DG Sports.
