SRINAGAR, Jan 2: District Srinagar Carrom Championship got underway at Institute of Hotel Management, Raj Bagh, here today.
The Championship was declared open by Principal IHM, Raj Bagh, Nisheeth Srivastava in presence of Aarif Khan, general secretary J&K Carrom Association, Firdous Ahmed Khan, Ex secretary J&K Carrom Association, Mudasir Khan, organising secretary of the event and Adil Rashid Shah, Ex vice president of J&K Carrom Association.
Earlier, Adil Rashid presented welcome address wherein he thanked those who coordinated with them to make the event a success.
On the inaugural day today, Umair drubbed Sajid, Syed Faizan trounced Tanzeel and Saleem Jafar outplayed Muzahir in sub junior boys section, while in sub junior gilrs category, Aisha Parveen prevailed over Tabinda, Khusboo got better of Seerat Parvaiz and Sabreena Firdous beat Sadiya Imtiyaz in.
In junior boys, Waseem Bashir trounced Husbaan, Dar Affran outclassed Aijaz Ahmad, Danish Bashir thrashed Javid Ahmad, and Waseem Yousuf defeated Ahsan ul Haq, while in junior girls section, Uzma Rashid beat Sumaira Javaid, Asra Shafi drubbed Snobar Afzal, Reebu Jan defeated Barjis and Anjum Alam got walk over against Uzra Binti Mustafa.
Mohammad Yaqoob beat Sheikh Athar, Irshad Ali trounced Gowhar, Faizan defeated Asif Ali, Adnan Afzal trounced Javaid Ahmad in senior boys section, while Abida Mehraj defeated Nusrat Jan and Safiya got better of Asma in senior girls section.
