JAMMU, Jan 3: Raja Cricket Club and I-Tech registered victories over their rivals in the ongoing 3rd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tourna-ment, being played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
In the first match, Raja Club defeated ICC in a thrilling contest by 2 runs. Batting first, Raja Club scored a modest total of 130 runs in 20 overs. Nipun Verma was the top scorer with 61runs, while Rhythm Mahajan and Hritik Gupta contributed 35 and 20 runs to the total respectively. Nipun played a brilliantly and struck the ball with fluidity and grace. For ICC, Monna, Sant Baksh and Irshad claimed one wicket each.
In reply, ICC managed to score 128 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 2 runs. Irshad top scored with 31 runs, while Arun Sharma and Surjeet Singh contributed 29 and 27 runs respectively. Sahil and Jagdev claimed 2 wickets each, while Nipun Verma claimed one wicket for Raja Club. Nipun Verma was declared as man of the match.
In another match played today, I-Tech team defeated Secretariat XI by 38 runs. I-Tech scored 158 runs in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Vikrant was the top scorer with unbeaten 78 runs, while Bablu and Kaka contributed 16 and 13 runs respectively. For Secretariat XI, Arshad and Arif took 2 wickets each, while Tahir claimed one wicket.
In reply, Secretariat XI managed to score 120 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 38 runs. Rayees top scored with 30 runs, while Altaf and Ijaz Ahmed contributed 18 and 17 runs to the total resepctively. Raman was the wrecker-in-chief for I-Tech, who took 4 important wickets, while Bablu and Vinod claimed 2 wickets each. Vikrant was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant innings.
