JAMMU, Jan 6: Water Works (PHE) Employees Association president and State unit of chief of INTUC, Shiv Kumar Sharma has urged upon the State Government to release the wages of the PHE daily rated workers pending for the last over 30 months.
In a meeting of the Association held at PHE headquarters BC Road under the chairmanship of its president Shiv Kumar here today, the members strongly projected their issues and condemned the higher authorities in the PHE for not releasing the wages of daily rated workers for the last about 30 months. They said that families of the hapless workers were facing starvation.
While endorsing the demand of the workers, Mr Sharma appealed the Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu, to release their pending wages, regularize all the remaining workers, enhance the remaining wage limit to Rs 350 per day and release 6% pending DA installment of the Government employees due from July 2015.
INTUC leader also demanded to make provision in the ensuing Budget of the State Govt for 7th Pay Commission implementation in favour of State employees and pensioners.
Meanwhile, the Provincial president of the Association dissolved the Kishtwar unit appointed and Abdul Kabir Kandoo as chairman and Irshad Ahmed Baghwan as vice president for the smooth functioning of the unit, till the new body is constituted for the district.
Prominent among those present included Vinod Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Som Nath, Raman Kumar, Faiz Akbar Chouhan, Mohd Akbar, Chain Singh, Kuldip Raj and Shokat Ali.
