JAMMU, Jan 7: Governor, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly and Members of Legislative Assembly have expressed grief over the untimely demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
In a condolence message, the Governor N N Vohra has conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Recalling his long association with Mufti Sayeed, the Governor described him as a senior seasoned politician and an astute administrator who was deeply committed to restoring the State to sustained peace and normalcy and carrying it forward to achieve rapid growth and development on all fronts. The Governor observed that the gap created by Mufti Sayeed’s demise in the polity of the State would not be easy to fill.
Speaker, Legislative Asse-mbly, Kavinder Gupta on his and on behalf of the Assembly Secretariat has expressed deep shock and sorrow on the sad and untimely demise of Chief Minister.
The Speaker said that the late leader was a great visionary and an experienced politician. He termed Mufti Sayeed as a true statesman and added that his death has created a vacuum in the political horizon of the State as well as the country which is impossible to be filled.
Expressing his heartfelt condolences and sympathy with the bereaved family, he prayed to Almighty to bestow peace on the departed soul and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Deputy Speaker, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi has also expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sad demise of the Chief Minister. While expressing his heartfelt condolences, he prayed to the Almighty to bestow peace on the departed soul and give fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this huge loss.
Dr Nirmal Singh, in a condolence message, has highlighted the contribution of the late leader and said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has played a historic role in political circles of the State and the country. He said Mufti Sayeed was known for his political acumen, statesmanship and he was leader of the masses.
Dr Singh further said that in his political career spanning over five decades, he carved out a place for himself in the history of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and the country. His demise has created a great vacuum, which is difficult to be filled up, he said and maintained that it has caused an irreparable loss to the entire populace of the nation. Dr Singh prayed for courage to the family to bear the irreparable loss.
Abdul Gani Kohli, in his message, said, “death of Mufti Sayeed is a great loss to the entire nation especially to the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, adding “he was a great leader and his commitment to bring together the people of three regions of the State cannot be forgotten”.
Kohli further said that Mufti Sayeed espoused vision based on equitable and inclusive development and peace and prosperity of the people of the State. He expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Abdul Rehman Veeri, in his message, said that Mufti Sayeed’s demise has left a huge void in the nation particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, where his commendable leadership had a major impact on people’s lives.
“The contribution of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to Jammu and Kashmir and the nation during long years of public service will always be remembered’’, Veeri said and added that he was known for his love for common masses, especially the underprivileged. He expressed his heart felt solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family.
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, while expressing deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Chief Minister, said “we have lost a big hope”.
Describing death of the Mufti Mohammad Sayed as a great loss to the nation, Bukhari said that State has lost an astute and visionary leader, adding the huge gap created by the death of this great leader is impossible to fill.
Extending sympathies with bereaved family, he said “the great leader was a member of our family” and termed the death his personal loss”. “Our hearts are bleeding and eyes are wet”, Bukhari further said, adding the political matureness of late leader was acknowledged at both the national and international level.
“Efforts which the great leader made for peace and tranquility in subcontinent will be written in golden letters”, he said, adding Mufti Mohammad Sayeed all along his political career worked for peace and advocated friendly relations between India and Pakistan. He worked for bringing both the countries close for the sake of the people of both the countries, particularly, J&K State.
In his condolence message, Abdul Haq Khan termed the demise of Mufti Sayeed as a “national tragedy”. He said Jammu and Kashmir has lost a well wisher who spent all his life struggling for the betterment of public. “He always worked towards bringing peace in the State and would make his Ministers work for the development of the State,” he said, adding that his contribution to the State will always be remembered.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has left a great void which would be difficult to fill, adding “we have lost a senior leader, a nationalist and a statesman who was working day and night for the betterment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.
Mufti Sayeed always stressed on dialogue as a solution to problems and espoused a vision for Jammu and Kashmir based on friendship, respect and mutual co-existence. He wanted to see Jammu and Kashmir prosper across all the three regions, Lal Singh further said while conveying his heart-felt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Chander Prakash Ganga, in his condolence message, described the demise of Mufti Sayeed as “untimely and sad”. He said that State has lost a great leader whose contribution to the State will always be remembered.
“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a visionary leader who was committed for the development and welfare of people of the state”, he further said.

Chering Dorjay, while expressing grief over the demise of Chief Minister recalled the initiative taken by Mufti Sayeed to empower the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh and his personal effort to put in place the developmental plans for Ladakh region in particular Leh district.
Pawan Kumar Gupta and Abdul Majeed Paddar, while expressing profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Chief Minister, described him a towering leader, visionary statesman and embodiment of secularism.
They said that the gap created by Mufti Sayeed’s demise in the polity of the State would not be easy to fill, adding Mufti Sayeed was a senior seasoned politician and a wise administrator who was sincerely committed to bring back the State to sustained peace and normalcy and carrying it forward to achieve speedy development and growth on all fronts.
Priya Sethi, in her message, said that Jammu and Kashmir has lost a visionary leader who always espoused the message of peace and brotherhood and worked tirelessly for the growth and development of the people of the State. She described the late leader as a great statesman who believed in bridging gaps and bringing equitable development in all the three regions of the State.
Dr (Prof) Nirmal Gupta, Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board has also expressed grief over the demise of Mufti Sayeed and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
Expressing his grief over the demise of Mufti Sayeed, BJP State General Secretary and MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia said, “this is an irreparable loss not only for the family, State or party but for the entire nation”.
MLA RS Pura, Dr Gagan Bhagat said that Mufti Sayeed was a great statesman and the man of principles who led his life with dignity.
MLA Doda Shakti Parihar also expressed grief over demise of Mufti Sayeed.
