JAMMU, Jan 10: The Jammu University spent a massive sum of rupees ten crore and five lakh on account of electricity and mobile/landline bills during the last five financial years.
This was revealed in an RTI reply, according to which an amount close to Rs 9.53 crore was spent on electricity, excluding the expenditure incurred by the University to run the high power diesel generator sets. The bill amount was Rs 1.68 crore for financial year 2010-11, Rs 1.90 crore for 2011-12, Rs 1.81 crore for 2012-13, Rs 2.49 crore for 2013-14 and Rs 1.66 crore for 2014-15.
Similarly, University spent nearly Rs 53 lakh on account of Landline/ Mobile expenditure. The amount remained at Rs 13 lakh for the financial year 2010-11, Rs 12 lakh for 2011-12, Rs 9 lakh for 2012-13, Rs 10.5 lakh for 2013-14 and Rs 9 lakh for 2014-15, RTI reply revealed.
While sharing these details, the NSF leader Surjit Choudhary informed that the university used a sum of Rs one crore out of the Infrastructure Fund to pay the electricity bill for the year 2013-14.
