KATHUA, Jan 12: In connection with the 14th Shaheedi Divas of  Rifleman Mangal Singh of  15 JAK RIF, who got martyrdom on  January 12, 2002 in Poonch sector while fighting with the enemies, the villagers  from Ladoli in  Kathua  organised function at his native village today.
Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary  and former minister  Dr Manohar Lal Sharma along with District Congress Committee president Kathua Subash Gupta ( Ex-MLC), Dharam Singh, father of  Shaheed Mangal Singh and other prominent persons and villagers paid tributes and  garlanded the statue of Shaheed Mangal Singh.
While lauding the supreme sacrifices of the Police, Army and Para-military personnel  for the peace and integrity of the country, Dr Sharma said that the Dogras have made immense sacrifices. They had given their precious  lives to preserve the unity and integrity of the country by exhibiting tenacity, courage and bravery. He said that the people hailing from  Kandi  border belt and hilly areas of Jammu division  have rich tradition of serving in Army and other Para-military forces which reflect their courage, spirit of nationalism and  love for the country.  He said that martyrs are the real hero’s and we must acknowledge their sacrifices. He also extended his gratitude to the family of Shaheed Mangal Singh and assured every possible help.
Ex-MLC said that  Dogra’s are real fighters and history of their valour is well versed in the books. He said that society bears social responsibility to remember the sacrifices of the soldiers, which will remain inspirational for the generation of coming times.
Former president Municipal Council Kathua Naresh Sharma, Devinder Singh Bindu, Capt Gian Singh Pathania, Sarpanch Bharat Bhushan, Sarpanch Surinder Singh, Sarpanch Madan Lal Sharma, Sarpanch Satpal, Sarpanch Vaishno Dutt and other prominent people from the area attended the programme.
