JAMMU, Jan 13: Jammu and Kashmir men and women veteran athletes won 23 medals, including 10 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze in the 37th All India Masters National Athletic Championship held at Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, recently.
The State team participated in the Meet under the supervision of Tarsem Lal, general secretary Veteran Athletic Association and Ramesh Sharma, Athletic coach.
The gold medals winners in various events included Reyaz Ahmad (3 gold in 1500, 5000 and 10,000 mtrs); Kanta Butyal (3 gold in 400, 800, 1500 mtrs); Pawan Sharma (3 gold in 1500, 5000, 10000 mtrs); Sudesh Kumari (gold in 5 kms walk, bronze in 5000 mtrs); Rampal (silver in 10000 mtrs); Surjeet Choudhary (2 silver in long jump and triple jump); Jasbir Singh (silver in discus throw); Balwan Singh (silver javelin throw); Ajit Singh (silver in 5 kms walk); Rajinder Nath (silver in shot put); Balwan Singh (bronze in 5000 mtrs); Rajinder Kumar (silver and bronze in discus and shot put) and Makhan Lal (silver and bronze in 10000 and 5000 mts).
