JAMMU, Jan 15: Police arrested two persons along with poppy straw from Rajiv Nagar Chowk area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bahu Fort police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bahu Fort police station laid a naka near Rajiv Nagar chowk and asked two persons to stop for checking as they were moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the persons tried to escape from the spot, but the cops chased and nabbed them near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 3 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Pardeep Kumar alias Pipa, son of Manipal Singh and Muna alias Langra, son of Manipal Singh, both residents of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal.
A case under FIR Number 9/16 under Section 8/15/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Bahu Fort police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria along with Incharge Narwal police post SI Mehmood Khan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
