Srinagar, Jan 17: Body of a 55-year old man, who was missing since January 3, was found today at Chursoo area of Awantipora in Pulwama district.
Ghulam Muhammad Hajam, a barber by profession, of Tangpuna village of Pulwama was missing since January 3 after he left for his shop at Pulwama Town but never returned.
However today his body was found at Katipora village of Chursoo in Awantipora by some locals and subsequently they informed police. A police party rushed to the spot and recovered the body for medico-legal formalities.
Police said they have stated investigations into the case and so far no one has been detained in this regard.
Meanwhile, police today said it have solved the murder case in “record time” in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“The murder case of Dev Raj Sharma of Akhnoor Jammu whose body was found in his rented room at Bafanda complex at Shalpora in Sopore has been solved in record time. Accused Muneer Ahmad Gujjar (Chohan ) has been arrested and he was working at the deceased’s shop as assistant from last five to six days,” said a police official.
During the night of January 14/15 they had some argument on payment issue which led to a scuffle between the two and ultimately resulted into the murder of Dev Raj Sharma, the official said.
“The accused struck on the back side of head of Dev Raj with food Turner and the scuffle marks were clearly visible on accused person’s neck. The accused then took away cash of Rs 8000 from deceased person. The case was solved in less than 24hrs due to vigorous efforts by police,” he added.
