CS reviews Republic Day preparations

JAMMU, Jan 23: Chief Secretary, B R Sharma today held a meeting at Civil Secretariat to review the arrangements for Republic Day across the State.
Principal Secretary, Home, R K Goyal, Commissioner Secre-tary, School Education, Shaleen Kabra, Divisional Commiss-ioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Samoon, Divisional Commiss-ioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary, GAD, Gazzanfar Hussain, Secretary Health, Mandeep  K Bhandari, Director General Information, Zaffar Ahmad, Secretary Transport, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and other senior officers from civil and police administration besides representatives of Army and Air Force participated in the meeting.
Chief Secretary asked the civil and police administration to meticulously prepare for the sequence of programmes scheduled for the Republic Day across all venues in the State.
He said public should be facilitated to reach the venues in order to participate in the Republic Day celebrations and enjoy march past parade, display of military prowess, tableau, daredevil shows and cultural programmes.
Chief Secretary received brief from both the Divisional Commissioners about the preparations put in place for the Republic Day.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Samoon participated in the meeting via video conference and said that all arrangements at the district and sub divisional level have been completed in Kashmir division including Leh and Kargil.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal said that all arrangements have been put in place across the division including the main venue at MA Stadium Jammu where Governor, N N Vohra will unfurl the National Flag and take salute at the march past.
Chief Secretary urged both the Divisional Commissioners and all DCs to ensure that young boys and girls participating in the Republic Day celebrations are provided with all facilities and refreshments.
Chief Secretary also reviewed security related arrangements in and around the venues in the meeting besides reviewing arrangements of  transport, parking, seating, illumination of buildings, main bazaars, availability of water, electricity, deployment of health, fire and emergency staff and equipment.
