SRINAGAR, Jan 28: Respo-nding proactively to the numerous representations of the locals suffering from frequent power outages, the army dedicated a 250 KVA electrical transformer to the people of Shalimar Colony in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said this transformer will augment the existing one which, alone, was not able to cope up with the load of over 100 houses and help provide the people uninterrupted power supply.
“The transformer was inaugurated by an elderly lady of Shalimar Colony in the presence of Colony President Farooq Ahmed and officials from the Watlab Army Garrison besides a large section population,” said the spokesman.
In addition to the electricity transformer, army has also been instrumental in installation of four hand pumps in Warpura, Hathlangoo, Wadoora Payeen and Tujjar villages of Sopore. “This step undertaken by the army shall go a long way in helping the local population which has been suffering from shortage of water supply in these areas,” he said.
