Fast-changing economy demands adequate skilled human resource: Hirdesh

JAMMU, Jan 29: The Department of Technical Education today organised a Mega Awareness Camp regarding Skill Development, Traditional Courses, Phulkari and Basohli Painting at Government Boys Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk, here.
Commissioner Secretary, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Hirdesh Kumar presided over the function.
Director, Technical Education, Shabnam Kamli, Joint Director, Technical Education, Syed Mohammad Taha Andrabi, Principal, Polytechnic College Jammu, Mrs Ritu Jamwal, Principal, Women Polytechnic College, Jammu, Niranjana, a large number of students and NCC Cadets from Polytechnic College Jammu, Women’s Polytechnic Jammu, ITI Jammu, ITI Kathua and other staff and officers of Technical Education Department were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner Secretary said that Skill Development is one of the essential ingredients for development of a society. He said, “we look forward to India’s future economic growth adding that the country is transforming into a diversified and internationally competitive economy.”
He quoted the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the world focuses on trade in goods but in future the core issues will be how to get skilled people so the need of hour is to produce skilled human resource.
The Commissioner Secretary said that it was the mission of PM and former Chief Minister, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to involve more and more youth in skill development courses which include Basohli Paintings, Traditional Phulkari Arts, Basohli Shawl Weaving, Wood Carving Shawls, Shawl Weaving and Embroidery and Paper Machie. He said for this programme Technical Education Department has been nominated as Nodal Department. He said directions have already been given to the department to come up with the detailed plans and projects in this regard. He said that instructions have also been given to the concerned to aware people about the skill development programme by organising awareness camps.
Director, Technical Education and Principal Polytechnic College also spoke on the occasion.
