UDHAMPUR, Jan 29: Devi-nder Memorial Open Table Tennis Championship was declared open by SS Bhalwal, Principal Government Degree College, here today.
Prior to the declaration of the Championship open, a floural tribute was paid to late Devinder Sharma (Munna Thanda), who was a prominent social worker and general secretary of the District Table Tennis Association, Udhampur.
The Championship started with a friendly match between Principal of Govt Degree College, Udhampur and president of the District Table Tennis Association Udhampur.
Earlier, Sunil Sharma presented welcome address.
Around 100 players drawn from the district participated in the Championship.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Vinod Baru, Sanjay Sharma, Kumar Tarun, Ankit Sharma and Sunny Sharma.
The Championship is being organized under the auspices of J&K Table Tennis Association.
In the league matches played today, Prikshit beat Akhil by 2-1, Abhay beat Pranav by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Rajesh Daya and Rajat Khajuria.
