SRINAGAR, Jan 30:  The residents of Iqbal Colony in Sonwar area here today said the presence of GB Pant, the Valley’s lone pediatric hospital, has become a cause of ‘nuisance’ ever since its inception at the present location.
The residents said in absence of proper sanitation they are suffering badly as heaps of garbage, open drains, stinking waters coming from the hospital premises are directly being dumped into Iqbal Colony which poses risk of infection to the locals which is evident right at the time of entrance to the area where two open drains are overflowing on the main road.
“Although hospital authorities were several times requested to stop such practice and make their STP functional but the pleas of locals have failed to bear any fruit, as they don’t care for the health of the locals of the area,” said the aggrieved locals.
They said the adjacent lane to the GB Pant hospital which is main entry point to Iqbal Colony is littered with garbage and stinking waters coming from the hospital premises due to which locals find it difficult to pass through it, as our area looks like cesspool and garbage dump.
