NAGROTA, Jan 31: Urging students to strengthen bonds of camaraderie within and outside their school precincts, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said preserving secular inheritance assumes crucial significance at a time when society is ridden with hatred and intolerance.
“Dividing society on the basis of caste and religion will ultimately prove detrimental for the growth of young people, who have to be cosmopolitan in character in the competitive world”, Mr Rana said while addressing faculty, parents and students at the Annual Day function of Diamond Public School here this morning.
Mr Rana called for generating an atmosphere wherein young people grow in a healthy academic and competitive environment rather than remaining confined within myopic walls of regional and religious bonding. In this context, he referred to the useful role of teachers in shaping young minds on positive lines and getting them out of the negative influences. “The parents will have to cooperate and supplement these efforts”, he maintained.
Together with imparting moral education, the Provincial President urged the teaching community to ensure quality education so that their taught make a big mark in their chosen careers. He stressed the need for exploring hidden talent of students and providing them opportunities to prove their mettle, not only in the field of academics but also in sports and other extracurricular activities.
Earlier, the Principal Joginder Singh presented annual report, saying the school has been endeavouring to give its best to the students in all spheres of academic and extra-curricular activities.
Mr Rana complimented the students for presenting scintillating cultural programme and achieving distinction in academics and sports activities.
Besides parents, members of the faculty and students, prominent citizens of the area were present during the Annual Day Function.
