JAMMU, Feb 4: Banyan International School in association with Pearson Schools celebrated Annual Day, here today. The two day event was conducted in General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu amid great participation and celebration.
On the occasion, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Member of Parliament and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha was the chief guest and Harish Doraiswamy, Vice President, Direct Delivery Schools, Pearson India, Mahant Manjeet Singh, Ajit Sahu, CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Dilbag Singh, Additional Director General of Police were the guests of honour. Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest in the final day of the event.
The theme of the event this year was ‘Folk N’ Frolic’ and encouraged students in reviving and celebrating the heritage and folk culture our country.
Celebrating its seventh year, Banyan International School showcased over one thousand students from all grades performing on stage, for the theme ‘Folk N Frolic’ through music and dance.
The event commenced with paying homage to the founders late Janak Raj Gupta and late Sneh Gupta by lighting of the lamp. Students performed folk art of different States and presented traditional dandiya, jagrana, lavani, bhangra and Rajasthani dances. Boys and girls also performed the regions traditional Dogri folk dance and enthralled the audience.
Ghulam Nabi Azad in his address mentioned that such events with themes like ‘Folk N Frolic’ not only become a source of entertainment for students but also creates a great learning platform for them to know and understand the deep cultural essence of our country.
Prof RD Sharma said that the school in a very short span of time has developed very well to establish itself as one of the prominent educational institutions of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Harinder Mahajan, Chairman, Banyan International School said, “It is our constant effort to impart quality education with holistic development to our students. The event culminated with the vote of thanks by Sahil Mahajan, Vice Chairman, Banyan International school.
