JAMMU, Feb 8: A Continuing Medical Education (CME) was today organized by Dr Shoket Chowdhary, Head Department of Gastroenterology Superspeciality Hospital of GMC Jammu and his team.
The state of art lecture was delivered by renowned Gastroenterologist of the country Dr Ajit Sood, Prof & Head department of Gastroenterology DMC Ludhiana. A scientist of Dr Sood ‘s stature came here to share his research work, clinical acumen and experience to the Medical Fraternity, who is extremely busy and generally participates in international conferences only.
Dr Sood delivered lecture on controversial management issues in Gastroenterology- latest trends and scientific updates. The focus of his talk was doctors from across specialties involved in management of related liver disorders in different age groups and genders.
Amongst the audiences about 200 doctors from different specialties like Surgeons, Gynaecologists, Pediatricians, Radiologists, Post Graduates & general practitioner from all around Jammu province gathered to listen to him and exchanged ideas.
Dr Shoket Chowdhary, in his brief and crisp address, apprised the audience about the achievement and progress made by the Department of Gastroenterology after its inception about 2 years back. He informed the delegates that Gastroenterology related problems are relatively more common in North India and still more common in our State due to faulty food habits.
The department of Gastroenterology is organizing frequently such programmes in the interest of delivering latest on the horizon to the needy.He said the Department of Gastroenterology, SSH Jammu had been organising free screening camps for Hepatitis B & C in different targeted pockets of society at different places.
Dr Chowdhary informed that the attendance in OPD of Gastroenterology has crossed 1000/month and establishment of separate department has helped needy to be stratified and optimally looked after with a focused approach.
Dr Zahid Gillani Principal & Dean GMC Jammu was the chief guest, Prof. R K Charngoo, renowned senior surgeon and Prof Mohan Lal, renowned Cardiologist chaired the scientific proceedings where as Dr MK Bhandari, Secretary Health & Medical Education attended the CME.
