JAMMU, Sept 9: J&K Gujjar United Front (GUF) has demanded free flow of Tribal Sub- Plan (STP) and their proper utilization and political reservation for the Gujjars in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
The demands were projected during day long seminar organized by Gujjar United Front under the chairmanship of Shah Mohammed Choudhary. A large number of members of the Front besides prominent members of the community participated in the seminar. Many members projected the issues of the community and discussed their socio-economic and political problems.
President of the Front, Shah Mohd alleged that funds provided by the Central Government, under Tribal Sub Plan are not being properly utilized. He said every year, the State Government releases these funds at the fag end of the year in second or third week of March and these funds which are actually meant for Tribals, are either diverted to other departments or remain unspent. He also alleged that decisions taken in the District Development Board meetings, even headed by Chief Minister, are not implemented.
GUF leader demanded proper utilization of funds under STP, flow of funds under SCA to STP, political reservation to Gujjars, strengthening of mobile schools for STs. Construction of new hostels for community children, Tribal Bhavans, provision of Urdu teachers in schools, nomination of members from community in PSC/SSRB, release of scholarships in favour of ST students, implementation of reservation rules and inclusion of Gojri in 8th Schedule.
Haji Hasham Ali, Haji Allah Rahim, Abid Hussain, Hussain Mohd, Sarpanch Ch Mohd Alam and Ex-Sarpanch Ch Noor Alam also spoke on the occasion.
