Singh Cricket Club wins New Year Cricket Cup

JAMMU, Feb 14: Singh Cricket Club defeated NCC Akhnoor by a big margin of 140 runs in the summit clash and claimed the title trophy of the New Year Cricket Cup at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Singh Cricket Club scored a mammoth total of 231 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Sunny Mahi top scored with 84 runs, while Sumit Sharma and Chandan contributed 37 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For NCC Akhnoor, Gagan Singh and Sonu bagged 3 wickets each.
In reply, NCC bundled out for a paltry total of 91 runs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 140 runs. Gagan Singh top scored with 23 runs, while Gollu and Arush contributed 16 and 12 runs respectively. For Singh Club, Sunny Mahi and Sham Singh Langeh bagged 3 wickets each. Sunny Mahi was declared man of the match for his brilliant batting display, while Chandan Sharma was adjudged as man of the series.
Congress leader Ankush Sharma was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Aman Gupta was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the guest of honour distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
The Tournament was held under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
