NC protests against NFSA implementation

RAMBAN, Feb 22: National Conference (NC) today staged a demonstration at Banihal in protest against the implementation of anti-people National Food Security Act (NFSA) across the State.
Led by NC district president, Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen, the demonstrators presented a memorandum to Governor NN Vohra, through the Sub Divisional Magistrate, registering strong resentment against the decision.
Addressing the protesters, Shaheen described the implementation of the Act as a sadistic measure of the PDP-BJP Government and called for its immediate roll back. He said the implementation is poised to deprive huge chunk of population of much needed rations, as due thought has not been given while moving ahead in the anti-people measure.
He also referred to discrepancies in the ration cards, prepared in accordance with the NFSA, saying that instead of solving the problems, it has caused enormous difficulties to the rationed population.
The district president also expressed anguish over non-availability of food stock at the CAPD depots, saying the rationed population has been suffering adversely for want of much needed food grains.
