MENDHAR, Feb 23: Sarpanchs and Panchs from various Panchayats of the area today held protest and locked the cement store of the Block Development Office.
They were protesting against the pick and choose policy and favouritism being adopted by some staff members of RDD while releasing cement for various Panchayats. The Panchayat members led by Showkat Choudhary, president Sarpanch Association held protest in the afternoon against the RDD staff and demanded that senior officers should intervene into the matter.
They said that similar protest was held about five days back and local MLA Javid Rana intervened and suggested to make schedule and distribute cement equally among all the Panchayats to avoid any public protest but they again resorted to the same practice. The BDO Tariq Aziz was not available in the office.
Later, Incharge SHO Shabir and SDPO Mendhar reached there and assured the agitating Panchayat members to hold inquiry into the matter and take up issue with ACD, Poonch.
