JAMMU, Feb 25: Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with National Council for Science and Technology Communication, DST, New Delhi and J&K State Science, Technology and Innovation Council inaugurated two days Science Fair, here today.
On this occasion, Prof TA Kawoos, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department was the chief guest, while Dr M A Bhat, Joint Director DST was the special guest.
Dr Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus and Director ICCCR and HRM was the Resource Person.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, which was followed by Saraswati Vandana.
Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College welcomed the guests and highlighted the need of organizing Science Fair to give impetus to young minds for innovation and discoveries.
Dr Anupama Gupta, Convenor of this exhibition in her address urged the students to invent and innovate something new to move ahead in life.
Dr. Neelu Rohmetra presented key note address on “Make in India” which stresses upon making India self reliant and self sufficient by being manufacturer and distributor in the world. It also invites the investors to invest and boost the make in India campaign.
Students also presented Skit on Incredible India. Symposium was organized on “Innovations & Make in India” in which large number of students deliberated. Poster making competition was also held on this theme. An exhibition was also inaugurated in which 24 Schools and Degree Colleges of Jammu Province participated. Students made beautiful models on a novel idea to alter the traditional image of India which has been shown marching a head with new scientific inventions.
Adjudicators of the Symposium were Dr Devinder Singh Raina from PG Department of Geography, Prof Hardeep Chahal, Department of Commerce and Prof Sunita Sharma, Department of Economics, University of Jammu.
Prof Amitpal Kaur, organizing secretary of the event presented formal vote of thanks.
